Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) will no longer process papers in Portuguese

The editorial board of Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) has decided to transition the journal to publish exclusively in English. Starting in 30 days, the journal will no longer accept submissions in Portuguese, and the final deadline for Portuguese-language submissions will be March 31, 2025. After this date, only papers written in English will be considered for review and publication. Papers already submitted will continue to be reviewed until a final decision is reached.

Reasons for the Change

This decision aligns with our mission to enhance the visibility, impact, and accessibility of research published in Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics). Several key factors motivated this transition:

  1. Increased International Visibility
    Publishing in English allows us to expand our reach beyond Brazil and Portuguese-speaking countries, ensuring that our research contributions are accessible to a global audience. This change will increase citations, readership, and collaboration opportunities with researchers worldwide.

  2. Alignment with Indexing Requirements
    Many prestigious scientific databases and indexing services prioritize journals that publish in English. By adopting English as our primary language, Eletrônica de Potência (Open Journal of Power Electronics) enhances its chances of being indexed in prominent databases such as Web of Science and Scopus, further increasing the journal’s impact.

  3. Facilitation of International Collaboration
    The power electronics field is inherently global, with significant contributions coming from various countries. Publishing in English fosters better collaboration between Brazilian researchers and international experts, strengthening academic and industrial partnerships.

  4. Standardization with Leading Scientific Journals
    The majority of high-impact journals in power electronics publish exclusively in English. Transition Period

We understand that this change requires an adjustment period for authors and reviewers. To ensure a smooth transition, the journal will continue accepting papers in Portuguese until March 31, 2025. Authors who have already submitted or are in the process of submitting manuscripts in Portuguese will not be affected by this change.
